WCS is grateful to the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Associ-ation, and the UK Government through the Dar-win Initiative, for recently awarding new grants to WCS. These partners bring critical support for WCS’s long-term field based conservation efforts in Antongil Bay, Toliara seascape and Nosy Be seascape. The most recent grant, funded by Darwin Initiative, has been selected from 440 applications. This new project, to be implemented by WCS, in partnership with GRET, a rural devel-opment NGO and WCS-HEAL (Health & Ecosys-tems: Analysis of Linkages), a consortium led by WCS with NGO, academic (e.g. Harvard School of Public Health) and government partners, will al-low us to expand the reach of livelihood activities in Antongil Bay, increase compliance with ma-rine-use policies, secure sustainable management of the fishery, and document the links between sustainable management and human health in coastal systems.
